The #1 Way You Are Destroying Your Heart
Heart disease is a common killer around the world – and possibly in your own backyard.
Poor diet, lack of exercise, genetics, and stress all increase your risk for developing heart disease.
But there is something else – something that may be due to the things above – that may be the LEADING cause of heart disease development.
And that happens to be: being overweight.
Now, I could sit here and tell you all the dangers of being overweight…
So could your doctors…
Your family…
But the fact is: unless you are willing to make the change, then really everyone may be wasting their breath.
Now, before you think that being even a little bit overweight is okay, let me tell you a few harmful side effects…
Overweight, Heart Disease, and Your Health
Being overweight – even by as little as FIVE or TEN pounds – may start to change how things operate in your body.
And when this happens, well, let’s just say it may be an unhappy scenario.
When things start to go haywire, you may find yourself at a higher risk for insulin resistance, lower adiponectin levels, leptin resistance, metabolic syndrome, Type 2 Diabetes, vascular disease, and…
HEART DISEASE!
Now, being overweight doesn’t always lead to heart disease, but if the fat your carrying around your belly happens to be visceral fat – a nasty, bad-hormone releasing fat – then the chances for heart disease development may be higher.
And this is not good for your health, heart, or any other aspect!
Now, a new study shows that losing weight – through the use of a calorie-restricted diet – may be a viable option for reducing your risk for heart disease.
Here’s what the study found:
First, they found that being overweight may lead to diastolic stiffness, myocardial steatosis, and dysfunction – otherwise known as adverse heart conditions.
The researchers then subjected mice to a calorie-restricted diet to see if there were positive effects on heart function and structure.
They found that a calorie-restricted diet restored diastolic function and reversed myocardial steatosis.
Now, these results did not occur in the older mice, but did in the younger mice. They showed that a calorie-restricted diet DID reduce oxidative stress and normalized nitric oxide activity in the older mice.
What did they conclude?
“In this model of obesity, aging slows the benefits of calorie restriction on myocardial structure and function.”
Simply put: Calorie restricted diets were able to change the structure and the function of the heart in young mice, however, older mice showed slower changes to calorie-restricted diets.
Why Losing Weight Is Important
Everyone knows that losing weight is an important step in bettering your health.
From improved body composition to better overall blood markers, losing weight not only improves your overall health but it may also make you look good.
Now, diet and exercise play a very large role in your chances of losing weight – and diet plays a much bigger role when compared to exercise.
This may translate into better overall heart health.
And, according to this study, losing weight – by use of a calorie-restricted diet – may improve your heart health, function, and structure.
If you’re looking to change your body – both on the inside and the outside – then losing weight may be your best option to not only improving your overall health, but dramatically improving heart health.
